Every day
cancer patients face more than just a diagnosis—they face overwhelming challenges like having to choose between going to treatment, paying rent, or putting food on the table.
Cancer is expensive for anyone but imagine the added stress of worrying if you’ll have enough gas to get to treatment, a warm safe place to live, or enough food to make it through the week.
That’s the reality Andrew faced:
Andrew, a 45-year-old husband and father of four, was diagnosed with leukemia. For him, battling cancer meant more than fighting a disease—it meant facing a financial crisis. Living in a rural town in Barrow County, he had to travel 88 miles—over two hours round trip—multiple times each month to receive treatment at Emory University Hospital.
Thanks to The Cancer Foundation, Andrew didn’t have to choose between treatment and staying home. The Foundation covered his gas expenses, ensuring he could continue his lifesaving care, and also paid his overdue electricity bill, keeping his family’s home warm and stable during this difficult time.
Last year, our Champions of Hope raised over $35,000, helping nearly 50 cancer patients with critical, day-to-day needs bringing comfort and hope to those who need it most.
Your gift helps provide:
Transportation to life-saving appointments.
Groceries to ensure families don’t go hungry.
Assistance with housing, utility bills, and other essential needs.
Will you become a Champion of Hope and help a family impacted by cancer get the food, transportation, and critical assistance they need during these uncertain times? With the current economic challenges, many cancer patients are struggling more than ever. A gift of $50, $100, $200—or any amount—today will make an immediate impact. Even the smallest gift can go a long way. Just $25 can help a patient like Andrew travel to a life-saving appointment or buy groceries for the week. Every dollar helps us reach—and even surpass—our goal.
Being a Champion of Hope is about more than just giving—it’s about inspiring others to act. As a Champion, you can use your personal connection to cancer to share your story with your network, raise awareness, and encourage others to join the cause. Become a Champion of Hope today.
