The first-ever Tee Off Against Cancer golf tournament is being held in memory of Dr. Walter “Gary” Huckaby. Known to his fellow golfers as “Bee”, Gary lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in July of 2025.

The tournament celebrates Bee’s legacy and love of the game. Hosted by Bethany and Aragorn Nanan, two of this year’s Champions of Hope, the event will benefit The Cancer Foundation and ensure local cancer patients receive financial support they need while they undergo cancer treatment.

“What’s Your Why?”

This event is especially meaningful because we were recently asked to serve as a Champions of Hope for The Cancer Foundation. I said “yes” right away because Aro and I have stood beside close friend and relatives fighting their own battles. The more I became involved, the more I began to realize just how widespread the impact of cancer really is, touching friends, neighbors, and our broader community in ways I hadn’t seen before.
